Campaign: COS A/W 2016
COS has built a strong followers base by creating a very attractive Nordic-inspired full-on tackle on design and clothing. From the layout of their shops, using Scandinavian materials and furniture, to the minimal and architectural feel of their garments.
In this dynamic, the relationship with nature plays a big part, and it is as much a value as efficiency or functionality in the mindset of Swedish designers. Look for example at their beautiful collaboration with Danish furniture design label Hay, that fuses these influences together perfectly.
With all this in mind, it is only natural that the action of COS's Fall/Winter 2016 campaign takes place in the quiet beaches of Norfolk, England.
Calming and isolated, they are the idoneous emotional landscape for reflection. The marriage of sea and nature seems like out of the pages of Selma Lagerlöf's «The Wonderful Adventures of Nils».
References do not end there, as the colours are inspired by the backgrounds of Ghanaian painter Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. Strong, bold and saturated navy, burgundy or forest greens infuse the functional pieces with a touch of luxe by means of the materials, combined in textured, wrap-like layers. It is ironic that most of these campaigns are coming out precisely when Summer has decided to make a full on appearance in the United Kingdom.
Styled by Jonathan Kaye, Danish model Mathias Lauridsen stars in a shoot by Karim Sadli, who repeats behind the camera once again for the Swedish brand. Check out the pictures below.
