New In: River Island & Topman Autumn 2016

The High Street is still buzzing after the Summer Sale and the latest heatwave, but little by little the brands are accepting that Autumn is upon us.

More and more, knits, coats and wools are making an appearance on the brand's weekly uploads, so I have decided to make an early selection for this in-between weather.

Sourcing Content from British favourites Topman and River Island, here are some ideas on how to survive these four-season days.

I like wearing a coat over a short sleeve shirt or a t-shirt, creating options rather than limits to the label "outerwear". Roll up the sleeves, if needed, or simply fold up the cuffs a couple of times. It will give the look the personalised finish of someone that does not want to follow the rules... all the time.

Just in case, I have included a lightweight bomber jacket as another option. In other news, I am considering getting a pair of classic DR MARTENS shoes, as my next winter Derby shoes.

For the second look you might have to wait a bit longer, judging by the weather outside of my window right now. Sigh.

A simple play on textures and materials here, starting with the lovely Topman wide-leg cropped trousers from their Street Tailor capsule collection, paired with a turtleneck sweater and a checked blazer. Those monkstrap shoes can be also a nice savvy Winter investment.

Another piece that should be very important in the next couple of months is a lightweight coat. Call it mac, dust coat, rain coat or, well, lightweight coat.

As with any thicker coat, I wear them on top of a plain t-shirt with rolled sleeves, and though it has been paired here with two smart-trouser options, I would wear it with a pair of lux joggers with the same confidence.
